Nakusp Hot Springs (Hot Springs)

Nakusp Hot Springs, surrounded by a dense forest, is located a short distance away from the town of Nakusp. The Nakusp Hot Springs is a high alpine spring situated in the wilderness of a narrow canyon and Kuskanax river. This complex has a circular-shaped outdoor pool that is divided into two sections. The smaller section is the hot pool, with water temperature ranging from 38°C (100°F) in the winter to 41°C (106°F) in the summer. The larger pool is for swimming with water temperature kept at 36°C (97°F) in the winter and 38°C (100°C) in the summer. Although there is no cold plunge pool here, you will find that the cold air or the snow in the winter are just as effective.

Uncrowded, excellent forest views

Submitted by Guest on November 26, 2009

I loved these hot springs. The place is not as crowded as some of the other developed hot springs in the Kootenays (e.g. Ainsworth and Radium), and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. There are two pools: a smaller one, where the water is hotter, and a larger one, with warm water. After soaking in the pools, cool off on the "patio" and enjoy the amazing forest views and smells that surround you. These hot springs stay open in the winter and I heard that often times you can have the whole facility to yourself.

I enjoyed soaking in these pools after a long day of hiking. There are not too many people there and the views are gorgeous.
