St Leon Hot Springs (Hot Springs)

These undeveloped wilderness hot springs are located in a cedar forest 20km away from Halcyon. There is a small 6 m by 3 m (20x10ft) cement pool, built by the site’s regular visitors, that offers a blissful soak in the hot water averaging 39°C (102°F). The water to the pool is delivered from the nearby emerging spring via plastic pipes. There is also a second smaller pool on the rocks above with even hotter water 50°C (120°F). St Leon Hot Springs is located on a private property, but it is open to the public, provided that there is no garbage left behind.

Additional Information

There have been problems with rowdy visitors and excessive garbage left on the site. The site may be closed to the public as the result.

From Nakusp, drive on Highway 23 north for about 23.5 km and turn right to the gravel St Leon Hotsprings Road (St Leon Forestry Road). Drive east for approximately 3km. Look for a pullout on the right and park your car. Walk down a steep hill. The springs are located alongside the creek.

Note: St Leon Forestry Road may be unmarked. This road connects to highway 23 approximately 1km south of the St Leon Creek Bridge (or 1.5km south of the Halfway River Bridge).
