Beatton Provincial Park

Located in the northeast of the province, in the heart of BC grain-growing region, Beatton Provincial Park is popular with both the visitors and the locals for its year-round recreation opportunities. The park is situated on the east shore of the picturesque Charlie Lake, 13 km northwest from Fort St. John. The lake is excellent for boating, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, waterskiing, and swimming from a sandy beach. Charlie Lake is popular with anglers as it contains burbot, perch, pike, and walleye, the species of fish more characteristic of the Prairie Provinces and rarely found in BC. There are 12 km of hiking / mountain biking trails at this park, which convert to cross-country ski trails in the winter. Other winter activities enjoyed at this park are snowshoeing, tobogganing, and ice fishing. The campground offers 37 vehicle-accessible campsites set amidst aspen and spruce trees.
