Champion Lakes Provincial Park

 

This high-elevation park is located 10 km northwest of Highway 3B near Fruitvale. A chain of three jewel-like Champion Lakes provides the focus of recreational activities at this family-friendly park. Canoeing and kayaking are excellent on all three lakes (powerboats are prohibited). The lakes are stocked with rainbow trout, and fishing is a popular activity at this park. Sunbathing and swimming can be enjoyed from two sandy beaches at Third Champion Lake. There are a total of 6.5 km of easy hiking trails leading to and around the Second and First Lakes. Bicycle use is allowed on these trails; additional mountain biking trails can be found just outside the park. During the winter, this park is used for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing.

From Fruitvale, drive approximately 7 km east on Highway 3B, then turn onto Champion Park Road and drive 10 km to the campground.

Fees

Vehicle Accessible Camping Fee: $19.00 per party / night.BC Senior Rate (Labour Day to June 14 only): $9.50 per senior couple/night.   

Operation Dates

This park is accessible for camping year round (weather permitting), but no services such as water and firewood are provided during the off-season.

Campground dates with full fees and services: June 1 – September 7.

Campground reservable dates: June 15 – September 7.

During the camping season, the front gate is locked from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am.

There are two picnic / day-use areas, Main Beach and Camper Beach, located at Third Champion Lake.

Both 3rd and 2nd Lakes have easy access via the boat launches. An approximate .25 of a km portage from the 2nd lake boat launch is required to reach 1st Lake.

Bicycle use is allowed on the park's hiking trails. Additional mountain biking trails can be found just outside the park.
