Horsefly Lake Provincial Park

Horsefly Lake Provincial Park, located 65 km east of Highway 97 at 150 Mile House, is located at the west end of Horsefly Lake. Horsefly Lake, a long and deep fjord-like lake, welcomes all sorts of recreational activities, including boating, canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, windsurfing, and scuba diving. There are canoe and paddleboat rentals available at the park. Swimming and sunbathing can be enjoyed from a sandy beach at the day-use area. Horsefly Lake contains large rainbow, lake, and bull trout; there are also good fishing opportunities available in the smaller lakes nearby. There is a short 1.5-km hiking trail leading from a day-use area to a viewpoint overlooking the lake. The campground, with a total of 30 campsites, is located in a mixed forest of spruce, fir, cedar, and birch. While the park’s name may alarm some campers, BC Parks literature states that biting insects are not a major concern here.
