Mount Fernie Provincial Park

 

With an easy access from the town of Fernie, Mount Robson Provincial Park serves as an excellent base camp from which to explore numerous recreation opportunities that this area has to offer. The campground has 40 spacious, well-treed campsites at the foot of the immense Mount Fernie. Visitors can enjoy the 3-km long interpretive trail leading through the park to picturesque Lizard Creek waterfalls. The Fernie area is very popular with outdoor recreation enthusiasts, and offers hundreds of kilometres of scenic trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The nearby Fernie Alpine Resort continues to run its chairlifts during the summer months, providing lift-assisted access to over 40 mountain biking and hiking trails. The town of Fernie, set amidst majestic mountain scenery, has a number of heritage buildings and boasts an excellent golf course. Anglers can try their luck fishing for cutthroat and bull trout in the beautiful Elk River.

Fees

Vehicle Accessible Camping Fee: $15.00 per party / night.

BC Senior Rate (Labour Day to June 14 only): $7.50 per senior couple/night.

Operation Dates

Campground opening and closing dates: May 17 – September 30 (In the off-season, camping is allowed in the top loop only; no fees and no services).

Campground dates with full fees and services: May 17 – September 30.

Campground reservable dates: May 31 – September 6.

I wish I lived closer to the Rockies so that I could enjoy parks like this more often. This park has very cozy camp-spots in a beautiful forest, clean and private. I enjoyed this park a lot. It is not far from the city, yet very quiet peaceful.
