Norbury Lake Provincial Park

Norbury Lake Provincial Park, located 15 km east of Fort Steele, is set amidst majestic Rocky Mountain scenery and provides access to two beautiful lakes, Norbury and Peckham’s. The serrated edge of the Steeples Mountain Range is reflected in the clear waters of Peckham’s Lake, providing excellent photographic opportunities. The campground is located next to Norbury Lake, while the picnic area, a sandy beach, and a boat launch can be found at Peckham’s Lake. Fishing is one of the favourite activities at this park, since both lakes are stocked with rainbow trout. There is a scenic 1-km long walking trail leading along the shore of Peckham’s Lake from the campground to the day-use area. Swimming, canoeing, and kayaking can be enjoyed on Norbury and Peckham’s Lakes, but no powerboats are allowed on either of the lakes. While camping at this park, take an opportunity to visit the Fort Steele Heritage Town, which features over 50 restored and original historic buildings, pioneer life demonstrations, and steam train rides.
