North Thompson River Provincial Park

North Thompson River Provincial Park is situated 5 km south of Clearwater at the confluence of North Thompson and Clearwater rivers. From a viewpoint at the park, visitors can marvel at this natural phenomenon, as the two majestic rivers, Clearwater with its green waters and North Thompson with brown, unite to form a single stream. The park’s tranquil campground is located on the banks of Thompson River amidst a coniferous forest. Fishing for Dolly Varden, rainbow trout and Chinook salmon is possible in the river. Swimming is available in the river, but the nearby Dutch Lake is a better alternative. The Clearwater area offers a multitude of recreational activities, including river rafting, guided horseback riding, and hiking opportunities.

Beautiful but beware!

We can't imagine when the previous commentor could stayed here, to experience peace and quiet. Forget the romantic notion of a late-night distant train whistle that lulls you to sleep. Imagine instead a freight train coming through your tent in the middle of the night. And not once, but many times (last night we counted five trains). The rail line lies directly across the river from the campground and while the Thompson River provides a beautiful spot for this campground, it is impossible to get a good night's sleep with all of the damned trains.

Nice park

This park is very nice, especially for a campground that is practically on the highway. Don't be alarmed, the campground is surprisingly quiet and peaceful, with well spaced mid-sized campsites. I found this parkto be quite relaxing and enjoyable. And check out their playground, wow!
