Okeover Arm Provincial Park

 

This small campground is situated on the east side of the Malaspina Peninsula in the northern part of Sunshine coast, near the town of Lund. This park is primary used by kayakers who wish to explore the wonderful Desolation Sound Marine Park, offering 60 km of shoreline, numerous small bays, and snug coves. In addition to canoeing and kayaking, visitors here can enjoy scuba diving, boating, swimming, and salt-water fishing. The nearby communities of Lund and Powell River offer a variety of other recreational pursuits.

From Powell River on the north Sunshine Coast, drive north for approximately 24 kilometres; turn right on Malaspina Road and drive a further 3 km to the park.

Vehicle Accessible Camping Fee: $15.00 per party / night.

BC Senior Rate (Labour Day to June 14 only): $7.50 per senior couple/night.

Operation Dates

Campground opening and closing dates: May 15– September 15. Campground dates with full fees and services: May 9– October 1.

This park offers 14 vehicle accessible campsites (including 2 double sites) and 4 tent-only sites on a first-come, first-served basis. The 14 vehicle accessible sites are open seasonally. The 4 tent-only sites are open all year. The campsites are set amongst mature hemlock and cedar trees. There is room for 2 vehicles at each site; extra parking is available for campers only. Camping is by self-registration.

This park has a picnic/day-use area located next to the campgrounds, in a small grassy area with a bench and a view of Okeover Arm and Lancelot Inlet. Pit toilets are provided, but no covered shelters or picnic tables.

Campfires are permitted in the designated fire rings at each campsite. Firewood is available at a cost of $6 per bundle or you can bring your own wood.

There is a cold water hand pump located in the park at the north end of the campground at the edge of the parking lot.

Boat Launch

Boat Launch

Although this park does not have a boat launch, there is a boat launch immediately adjacent to the park. Please note that the boat launch is only recommended for use during high tides and with 4-wheel drive vehicles. The harbour authority has built a new parking area which is 50 meters from the park and very convenient for boaters.
