Silver Lake Provincial Park

 

Found in the beautiful Skagit Valley, 12 km south of Hope, Silver Lake Provincial Park is a small, largely undeveloped lakefront area. This park’s campground, with 25 campsites, offers a rustic camping experience in a forested setting of western red cedar, Douglas fir, and western hemlock. Water, pit toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings are available. Visitors to this park can enjoy picnicking, swimming in Silver Lake, and fishing for steelhead, Dolly Varden, and rainbow trout.

Location

The park is located 12 km southof Hope in Skagit Valley. Take exit #168 from Highway #1 and follow Flood-Hope Road to the south. Turn right onto Silver Creek (Silver Skagit) Road. After about 2 km, the pavement ends. At 6 km watch for the park signs at a bridge on your right. Turn right and go over the bridge. It is 1 km in to the park.

BC Senior Rate (Labour Day to June 14 only): $7.50 per senior couple/night.

The campground has 25 vehicle-accessible campsites, including 4 double sites. There are no waterfront or pull-through sites.

Picnic Areas

This park has a day-use/picnic area. There is approximately 1 hectare of grassy area and a a small rock-and-sand beach available. There are no campfires permitted in the day-use area. The day-use area is available to foot traffic when gates are locked.

Campfires are permitted in the campground fire rings only. Firewood can be purchased in the park or you may bring your own wood.

There are two hand pumps available in the campground.

Boat Launch

Boat Launch

Only electric motors are allowed on Silver Lake. There is a 2-wheel drive accessible, single wide, gravel boat launch for small boats located near the day-use and campground areas. There is a parking area for vehicles and boat trailers; however, no overnight parking is available. Boats can be left in the water or beached overnight at owner%u2019s own risk. There are no docks or marina. Water skiing is not recommended.

Fishing

Silver Lake provides excellent trout fishing opportunities. It is possible to catch Steelhead, Dolly Varden, and rainbow trout. Catch and release only, single barbless hook. Licences are available for purchase in Hope/Silver Hope Creek approximately 8 km away. Ice fishing is not recommended. Please note: Only electric motors are allowed on Silver lake.

There is one short, 1km trail, which follows the west side of lake down an old road bed.

Swimming in Silver Lake is possible from the day-use area. There is no designated swimming area. Be cautious of drop-offs.
